Monday's Try a New Technique

Monday's new Technique was to make faux tile. There was several different ways to choose from to make the tiles. I chose to use my square punch, to layer the tiles onto black for a sharp look. I dry embossed the "tiles" with my cuttlebug and a cute little tiny embossing folder using bravo burgundy. It was pretty quick, but then I rubbed them with Encore gold ink and let them dry. After that I coated them with Crystal Effects. This turned them very dark, and caused the gold ink to change color and puddle, but I let them dry overnight, just in case by morning there was some great transformation. No such luck, I decided I couldn't use them that way. I liked them much better plain, so I made another set this morning. Then I did the Carte Postale Medallion for the center and adhered everything all together. Added the bow, fastened it down with some mini pop dots so it won't slide off, and tada! There it is.
